208 Seiten, Buch

Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

A visual collection of postwar history, compiled by theme from rare photographs unique to the occupation period under GHQ rule, unearthed from the vast archives of a newspaper company. Through photographic records, this collection traces a unique era; from the massive air raids and Japan's defeat to the landing of the occupying forces, the stationing of U.S. troops, and the process of seizing and subsequently releasing various facilities. It also vividly captures the dramatic changes in cityscapes and daily life as communities rebuilt from the ashes. The collection features approximately 400 previously unpublished photographs taken primarily in Osaka and throughout the Kansai region's six prefectures from Shōwa 20 (1945) to Shōwa 30 (1955) .
