ENGLISH DESCRIPTION   The seriocomic stories gathered in this book have a common denominator: the irruption of an overwhelming desire in the lives of vulnerable men and women who are either reborn or crumble under the weight of the ghosts haunting them. As their ghosts take over, they are transformed, either surrendering to love, or yielding to treachery.   Seven dark humor tales look at different intimate apocalypses. With narrative voices ranging from empathy to irony, from satire to a bolero-like sentimental texture, Enrique Serna describes the cruel self-recognition trip of a French junkie, the bitter twilight of a provincial Don Juan, the struggles of a couple fighting for the affection of their adorable pet, the anxieties of a teacher who falls in love with his best student, the pathological devotion of a simple employee who feels united in spirit with a Hollywood diva, the anguish of an ombudsman who gets an unusual shot of erotic self-esteem, and the emotional crumbling of an old lady when the political polarization of her country makes its way to her bed.   This book is a collection of seriocomical tales, as told by a snake charmer.
