Access to drinking water is one of the key factors in determining the level of poverty. Our study focused on developing an IWRM plan for the village of Ambohibary in the rural commune of Ankazobe. Indeed, the distance from the water source and deforestation are the factors limiting access to safe drinking water for the population of Ambohibary, Ankazobe. We must therefore preserve this natural resource by managing and protecting the relevant watershed; by establishing a gravity-fed drinking water supply system; and by creating a watershed management organization. It is also recommended to thoroughly educate the population about the environment and to regularly monitor all work carried out.
