Despite the importance of the argan tree as the primary source of forage for livestock in the argan forest region of southern Morocco, very few research studies have been conducted on livestock farming in these forests. Chemical analyses conducted as part of this study revealed that argan pulp contains significant levels of soluble sugars (34.8%) and pectic substances (8.45% DM), which explains its particularly high digestibility (71.58% DM) and energy value (1.07 UFL and 1.05 UFV/kg DM). Argan oil cake, with its low levels of cell wall components and high levels of total nitrogen and fat, has good digestibility and significant nutritional value. The field survey revealed the importance of the argan tree in livestock feed, particularly for goats, which derive most of their nutritional needs from the argan forest (74%). This dependence of goats on the argan grove-whose condition is dependent on climatic conditions-has a significant and direct impact on the health of these animals.
