The Malagasy say: 'Health is the greatest wealth'. Drinking safe water, using hygienic latrines and washing one's hands put this proverb into practice. The drinking water supply and sanitation facilities in Voninahitrinitany I have been successfully implemented thanks to various awareness-raising campaigns by the Fokonolona. The chore of fetching drinking water is no longer a problem for the local population. Water quality is no longer a cause for concern, and the infrastructure has been modernised and brought up to standard. The construction of the toilet block has eradicated open defecation; every household has built its own latrine and shower. The project has therefore had a positive impact on the Fokontany.
