Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

This book provides a practical introduction to Terrestrial Laser Scanning (TLS) in forest environments, focusing on the Leica RTC360 and Cyclone REGISTER 360 PLUS. It covers the fundamental principles of LiDAR and TLS, scanning geometry, point spacing, multiple scan stations, registration, occlusion, and survey components. The book presents the Leica RTC360 and its main features, followed by a practical nine-station forest TLS survey processed through the four main Cyclone REGISTER 360 PLUS stages: Importer, Examiner et optimiser, Finaliser, and Rapport. Particular attention is given to registration, overlap, visual alignment, quality control, and data archiving, while addressing challenges such as vegetation occlusion, limited visibility, terrain complexity, and vegetation movement. This volume establishes a foundation for reliable TLS data acquisition and registration and prepares the reader for advanced point-cloud processing and three-dimensional forest-structure analysis.
