Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Introduction: Tuberculosis remains a public health problem worldwide due to its morbidity and mortality. In 2017, 10 million people worldwide were affected (WHO, Boulahbal, F. & Chaulet, P. 2004, p. 1), and countries with limited resources bear the heaviest burden.Methodology: Study conducted at CSR-Kole from January 2021 to June 2023. A mixed-methods cross-sectional study based on literature review and clinical and microscopic follow-up of tuberculosis patients undergoing treatment. The study population consisted of 4,018 patients who sought curative care, of whom 81 had been diagnosed with tuberculosis and placed on treatment. Statistical tests, including percentage (% = n/N × 100), mean, ratio, and rate, were used to analyze and interpret the data. Results: The prevalence of TB is 2%, higher than the WHO figure of 0.2% in 2019. The sex ratio is 1.5. The mean age is 38 years. The patients' educational level was low, with 51.9% having a secondary education; cough was the predominant symptom in 95.2% of cases, while fever was present in only 47.6%. Conclusion: Tuberculosis in the Kole region is a cause for concern.
