Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Gala Dalí was a woman who deliberately kept herself a mystery. While the men she shared her life with rose to global fame, she chose to remain in the shadows, often seen as cold, aloof, and selfish. But the real Gala was very different. In this biographical account, Monika Zgustova reveals a bold, passionate, and determined woman who pursued her dreams and played a crucial role in the artistic journeys of three major figures of 20th-century poetry and art: Paul Éluard, Max Ernst, and Salvador Dalí. For each of them, she was more than a muse--she was a creative partner, a critic, and a source of strength. Zgustova brings to light little-known aspects of Gala's life: her family, her early friendship with poet Marina Tsvetaeva, the impact of the Russian Revolution, and her unwavering commitment to love, art, and freedom. This portrait redefines Gala as a complex and influential woman who defied the expectations of her time to help shape modern art and literature.
