Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

"Mistral: her Life is the most complete biography to date of a poet essential to modern literature. Elizabeth Horan, an acknowledged expert on the Nobel Prize winner, reconstructs Mistral's life based on insightful research into her personal letters, a treasure trove of correspondence that reveals her musings, sorrows and passions but, most of all, her incomparable strength of character. Mistral's childhood in Elqui, her formative relationships, her years spent teaching in cities across Chile, her ties to Argentina, her close friendship with Laura Rodig, her early contact with Neruda and other renowned writers and politicians - all are covered in this comprehensive undertaking. A breathtakingly detailed study that reveals little known aspects of Mistral's life, including the tragedies she endured and her interactions with her closest circle. An indispensable resource for rediscovering a Chilean literary giant, who emerges from these pages as a strong-willed and astute woman who learned to navigate the world's obstacles and become the person she wanted to be"--
