Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

How has torture shaped art? This book explores in an unprecedented way the links between physical suffering and artistic creation. Beyond the simple representation of torture, the work analyzes how this extreme experience has modified literary and artistic forms themselves. By traversing the centuries, from antiquity to the present day, it reveals how violence has influenced discourses, genres, and artistic techniques. An essential study to understand how art, far from being a mere reflection of reality, is also a tool to question and transform the world.
