Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Ancient gold plates allegedly connected with Moses have vanished, and their theft opens the way into a world where sacred history can be weaponised. Jeff Ramsden, the physically formidable investigator of Grim, Ramsden, and Ross, narrates the pursuit in a direct first-person voice, bringing comic force to an archaeological mystery shaped by coded communications, secret meetings and rival claims to powerful relics. Behind the case stands the People of Pisgah, a secretive religious-political movement commanded by the forceful Mrs. Isobel Aintree. Its teachings combine Mosaic symbolism, racial solidarity, African self-determination and revolutionary politics, creating a volatile contest over belief, identity and authority. Prophecy and spectacle become instruments for manipulating crowds, while religious imposture and political intrigue repeatedly complicate the distinction between conviction and calculated deception. Across an international trail that reaches Cairo and extends through cities, railways and remote American regions, Ramsden confronts an organisation adept at concealment and performance. The novel moves between detective thriller, espionage adventure and farce, using its investigation to expose the machinery behind public fervour without surrendering the momentum of pursuit. Its unusual fusion of sacred artefacts, revolutionary rhetoric and comic narration gives the mystery a sharply individual character.
