Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

One name, one town, one war. Captain Thomas Cook steps out of the American Revolution era with the grit of a working soldier and the dignity of a veteran remembered. A life measured in duty. In this concise revolutionary war biography, William M. Sweeny presents a biographical sketch reprint of Cook (1752-1841), a continental army soldier whose story runs from mobilisation to the quieter struggles of peace. Rooted in genealogy and local history, the account keeps its focus on lived experience: patriot service and sacrifice, the pull of family and community, and the shaping of character in the early United States. Where the record allows, it draws on continental army records and other revolutionary war primary sources to anchor names, dates, and decisions with documentary weight. Written in the nineteenth-century style of commemorative town histories, it shows how national events were carried on local shoulders, and why individual service records matter to American revolution era research and family historians alike. As an American military history book, it suits casual readers who want a vivid human window into the Revolution, and it serves students of American Revolution looking for a grounded portrait of revolutionary war veteran life. It also appeals to classic Americana collectors who value the preservation of local biographies that might otherwise slip from view. Republished by Alpha Editions in a careful modern edition, this volume preserves the spirit of the original while making it effortless to enjoy today -- a heritage title prepared for readers and collectors alike.
