Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

A chilling warning from the shadows of history, The Revolt Against Civilization: The Menace of the Under Man probes the fragile foundations of Western society in the aftermath of the First World War. Lothrop Stoddard's controversial volume stands as a stark example of early 20th century literature grappling with questions of social hierarchy, racial theory, and the perceived threats to civilisation's progress. This work's sociopolitical commentary is unflinching - a critique of civilisation that unsettled readers then, and continues to provoke reflection and debate among students of historical analysis today. Stoddard's exploration, similar in spirit to the writings of Madison Grant, delves into the eugenics movement and its influence on the era's intellectual landscape. His arguments, though deeply contentious, are a vital part of understanding the currents that shaped modern Western thought and policy. For those engaged in historical research or academic study, this book offers an unvarnished glimpse into the post-World War context, illuminating the fears and ideologies that permeated the period. It is equally significant for collectors of classic literature, representing a rare artefact of sociopolitical discourse. Republished by Alpha Editions in a careful modern edition, this volume preserves the spirit of the original while making it effortless to enjoy today - a heritage title prepared for readers and collectors alike.
