Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

On an Ohio frontier once ringed with blockhouses and danger, a small garrison stood between invasion and the young republic. Frontier courage echoes through time. In this historical commemorative address, Elisha Whittlesey reflects on the defense of Fort Stephenson at Lower Sandusky (now Fremont, Ohio), capturing the atmosphere of the War of 1812 northwest frontier and the fragile communities that grew along the Sandusky River. Prepared as an anniversary oration pamphlet for the forty-fifth celebration of the battle, his War of 1812 speech combines patriotic fervour, local recollection and careful remembrance of early Ohio military history, creating a vivid Ohio local history reference and a window into nineteenth-century views of the conflict. Both casual readers of narrative history and dedicated War of 1812 researchers will value this compact War of 1812 primary source for its detail on Lower Sandusky Ohio history, Fremont Ohio early history and the wider northwest territory history. Out of print for decades and now republished by Alpha Editions. Restored for today's and future generations. More than a reprint - a collector's item and a cultural treasure. Whether you are exploring a family connection, building a regional library, or deepening your understanding of frontier warfare, this faithfully reproduced address preserves an authentic voice from America's past, ready to be read, shared and kept.
