Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

On the eve of a milestone, a pulpit becomes a public square. A church service becomes a lens on a country. Preached in Christ Church on 2 July 1876, E. A. Foggo's address stands as a vivid historical church sermon from the 1876 centennial era, poised between worship and civic remembrance. America turns one hundred years. In this nineteenth century homily, faith speaks to public duty, gratitude, and national identity, offering a clear example of a christian patriotism sermon shaped by the pressures and hopes of nineteenth century America. Read it for the cadence of period pulpit oratory, and for the way religious language framed the American centennial observance in the weeks of Fourth of July celebrations. As a church history address and a local history reference, the sermon preserves how a community heard its past and imagined its future, making it valuable to readers drawn to fourth of july sermons, to clergy sermon research, and to anyone building a pulpit oratory collection. It is also a striking record of how public feeling, theology, and civic memory met in the sanctuary at a defining national moment. Out of print for decades and now republished by Alpha Editions. Restored for today's and future generations. More than a reprint -- a collector's item and a cultural treasure. This public domain sermon reprint belongs on the shelf of classic literature collectors and in the hands of curious modern readers alike.
