Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Ecclesiasticus is structured as a collection of proverbs, maxims, and poetic reflections that cover a wide array of topics. It is intended to provide guidance on ethical behavior, familial relationships, and the fear of the Lord as the foundation of wisdom. The text emphasizes that wisdom begins with reverence for God and can be attained through adherence to His commandments and by living a life of virtue. One of the central themes of Ecclesiasticus is the importance of humility and discipline. The author warns against pride, greed, and other vices, while encouraging generosity, charity, and justice. Much like the Book of Proverbs, Sirach provides practical advice for daily life, addressing topics such as friendship, speech, work ethic, and the proper treatment of others, especially the poor and needy. The book also includes instructions on the duties of children toward their parents and the responsibilities of leaders toward their people. In addition to practical moral guidance, Ecclesiasticus extols the value of seeking wisdom throughout life. The author reflects on the power and majesty of God, urging readers to seek His wisdom in all things and to live according to His laws. The text also praises the works of God in creation, expressing awe at the natural world and the order that reflects God's wisdom and power.
