Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The Cities of Refuge: or, The Name of Jesus by John R. Macduff is a devotional work that draws upon the Old Testament concept of the cities of refuge as a metaphor for the spiritual refuge found in Jesus Christ. The cities of refuge in ancient Israel were designated places where individuals accused of manslaughter could flee for protection and safety. Macduff uses this biblical imagery to illustrate the shelter, safety, and salvation that believers find in Christ. Each chapter of the book focuses on one of the six cities of refuge, linking their characteristics and purpose to different aspects of Jesus' role as Savior. Macduff emphasizes themes such as forgiveness, grace, protection, and redemption, presenting Jesus as the ultimate refuge for sinners seeking salvation. Through his reflections, he encourages readers to find peace and rest in Christ, drawing parallels between the physical refuge offered in biblical times and the spiritual refuge that is available to all believers through faith in Jesus.
