Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

A flicker of candlelight on a nineteenth-century writing desk, the quiet hush of a study deep in thought-this evocative collection invites readers into the reflective heart of a poet whose words shaped the literary landscape of his era. Here, each poem is a window into the sensibilities and aspirations of a time when American poetry was forging its own identity, delicately balancing the influences of romantic era poetry with the unique cadence of a new nation's voice. Within this volume, the musings span from gentle humour to profound contemplation, capturing the subtle interplay between intellect and emotion that defines the best of nineteenth century literature. The verses, drawn from the poet's oldest portfolio, blend classic English verse traditions with a distinctly American perspective, offering a rare glimpse into the evolution of poetic form and thought during a pivotal period. Whether pondering the fleeting nature of beauty, exploring the bonds of friendship and family, or meditating on the passage of time, these works resonate with a sincerity and grace that remain undimmed. For lovers of literary poetry classics and those who treasure the quiet power of poetic musings, this collection stands as both a historical poetry work and a personal companion for moments of reflection. Its pages echo with the voices of an age when poetry was not merely an art, but a vital means of understanding the world and oneself. The careful restoration of this reflective poetry book brings back to life a body of work that had slipped from public view, offering both general readers and collectors an opportunity to reconnect with the richness of old American poems. This book was out of print for decades and is now republished by Alpha Editions. It has been restored for today's and future generations. This edition is not just a reprint - it's a collector's item and a cultural treasure. For those who appreciate the enduring appeal of nineteenth century poetry and the artistry of finely crafted verse, this volume promises a reading experience both rewarding and enduring.
