Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

A hush lingers across the ancient hills, where the mists of Wales cradle stories that have echoed through centuries. Here, poetry weaves its way through stone and stream, capturing the soul of a land shaped by legend and longing. This collection gathers the voices of historic Welsh poets, each verse a testament to the enduring power of language in shaping identity and memory. From the lyrical cadences of traditional Welsh verse to the stirring rhythms of nineteenth century poetry, the anthology unfolds as a vibrant tapestry-rich with the imagery of valleys, castles, and the ever-present sea. The reading experience is both intimate and expansive, offering a rare window into the heart of Welsh cultural poetry. Each poem resonates with the unique music of the Welsh language, even in translation, reflecting a literary tradition that is as deeply rooted as the country's ancient oaks. The selection spans a broad spectrum of themes, from love and nature to the trials of history, inviting readers to trace the evolution of Wales literature through voices both celebrated and unsung. The collection's careful curation highlights the interplay between Celtic poetry's mythic heritage and the more personal, reflective tone that emerged in later eras. Engagement comes not only from the beauty of the language but from the sense of place that permeates every line-poetry about Wales is inseparable from the land itself, and this anthology honours that bond. For general readers and collectors alike, the volume stands as a bridge to a world where verse was both shield and song, a means of survival and celebration. Its pages are steeped in the rhythms of British poetry, yet they remain distinctly, unmistakably Welsh. This book was out of print for decades and is now republished by Alpha Editions. It has been restored for today's and future generations. This edition is not just a reprint - it's a collector's item and a cultural treasure.
