Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

A hush falls over the turning of the year, and through it comes a voice both contemplative and clear, poised at the threshold between youth and age. This reflective poetry book gathers the meditative poems of a nineteenth-century American master, whose work stands as a bridge between the Victorian era's grandeur and the searching spirit of a new world. Each verse is carefully wrought, drawing readers into the quiet drama of life's passages-moments when the iron gate of experience swings open to reveal both memory and hope. The collection's philosophical poetry lingers over the questions that haunt us all: the nature of time, the sweetness and sorrow of change, and the enduring bonds of kinship and community. With a rare blend of wit and gravity, these classic American verses invite readers to pause and consider the world anew. The poems move effortlessly from the intimate to the universal, capturing the fleeting beauty of daily existence and the deeper currents of thought that run beneath. This is not merely a gathering of Victorian era poems; it is a literary poetry collection that rewards close attention and repeated visits. The poet's voice-by turns gentle, wry, and profound-remains as engaging today as when these works first appeared, offering solace and insight to those who seek meaning in the fabric of ordinary days. Whether savoured for their lyrical grace or their quiet wisdom, these poems speak to anyone drawn to poetry about life, and to those who cherish the meditative pleasures of classic verse.
