Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

"My Father and My Education" is a tragicomic play that explores the tension between tradition and modernity in a rural African village. Set in the fictional village of Djimbi, the story revolves around a visionary chief who, troubled by disturbing dreams about the future of his people, summons the villagers to advocate for the education of their children. While some parents embrace this call to action, others, like Daouda, resist Western-style education, preferring traditional ways. Through humorous yet poignant dialogues, the play highlights generational conflicts, cultural resistance, and the transformative power of education. Inspired by real-life challenges, this fictional narrative invites readers to reflect on the vital role of knowledge in community development and the complex choices faced by families caught between heritage and progress.
