Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The streets of Naples don't forgive. But they don't forget either.Silviuccio is seven years old when he learns his first lesson: in the Quartieri Spagnoli, the street is the only school that matters. What starts with a handful of smuggled cigarettes soon pulls him into a wider world - counterfeit fashion, family loyalty, and a criminal empire he never actually chose. As he grows up, so does the danger, and so does the price of belonging.Il Napoletano is one of the most engaging Italian short stories for adults learning the language - written for A2-B1 (beginner to lower-intermediate) learners who want more than a textbook. It's a real story - tense, funny in places, heartbreaking in others - told in clear, level-appropriate Italian, one chapter at a time. But this isn't only a story about crime. It's a story about Naples itself: its warmth and its wounds, its sfogliatelle and its silence, its music and its mafia. You'll meet the city's contradictions the way locals actually experience them - not through a postcard. This graded reader in Italian is designed for real learning, not just reading:Written specifically for A2-B1 CEFR level - simple sentence structure, controlled vocabulary, no overwhelming grammarFootnoted vocabulary on every page, so you can grow your vocabulary while reading - no dictionary requiredA full bilingual glossary of Italian vocabulary at the end of every chapter to review new wordsComprehension exercises after each chapter (true/false, multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, and free writing)Cultural notes that go beyond the story - Naples, the camorra, Neapolitan food, and moreAnswer keys included, so you can check your progress as you goPerfect for you if:You've finished a beginner Italian course and want real reading practice, not more drillsYou want to grow your vocabulary and grammar naturally, through context, not memorizationYou want a story you'll actually want to finish - and one that makes you want to pick up another Italian book right afterNaples doesn't explain itself easily - not even to Italians. This book won't try to simplify it for you. It will just take you there, one page at a time, until you realize you've learned more Italian than you meant to.
