What if every feeling inside you had a safe place to go?>The Little Library Inside Me is a heartwarming children's picture book about big feelings, emotional awareness, and finding calm within. Through a warm and imaginative story, young readers discover that each of us carries a quiet library inside-a comforting place where worries, anger, sadness, excitement, joy, and every feeling in between can be seen and held with care.
Created and illustrated by Madeline Choo, this gentle story helps children begin to:
- notice and name their emotions;- understand that feelings can be strong without making them unsafe or "bad"- practise pausing, breathing, and finding calm- build a kinder relationship with their inner world; and- talk with a trusted adult about what they are experiencing.
Inside the Book:
- 12 Fully Illustrated, Standalone Chapters: 12 complete story adventures exploring self-advocacy, reciprocity, self-worth, emotional regulation, and inner calm.- Interactive Reflection Corners: Every chapter ends with four thoughtful discussion prompts to encourage open conversations between children, parents, and educators.- Gentle Social-Emotional Learning (SEL): Teaches core lessons on discernment, emotional safety, saying "brave no's," and coming back home to oneself.
After each chapter or story ending,
a Reflection Corner invites children and their grown-ups to pause together. The questions are designed for simple conversation, drawing, journaling, bedtime reflection, or classroom discussion. They help children connect the story to their own feelings without turning the book into a test or a clinical exercise.
This children's storybook is inspired by the emotional-learning foundations of Madeline Choo's adult memoir and field guide, Bibliothèque Intérieure: My Inner Library by Twenty-Eight, but it is not the same book and is not written for an adult audience. The adult book explores eldest-daughter wounds, people-pleasing, boundaries, burnout, and relationship patterns. The Little Library Inside Me
reimagines the core idea of an inner library for children: a safe, imaginative place where feelings can be named, understood, and met with care.It is suitable for: -bedtime reading and quiet-time routines;-parents teaching emotional literacy at home;-teachers and educators introducing feelings vocabulary;-counsellors and caregivers looking for a gentle conversation starter;-birthdays, baby showers, holidays, and meaningful family gifts; and>Give a child more than a story. Give them language for their inner world, a calm place to return to, and questions that help them listen to themselves with kindness.
