Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

THE HOLY SPIRIT: His Person, Presence, Power, and Work in the Believer is a biblical study of the Person and ministry of the Holy Spirit and His continuing work in the life of the believer and the Church.

Dr. Raymond E. Smith leads the reader through Scripture to examine the deity and personality of the Holy Spirit, His work in salvation, His indwelling presence, His guidance, the fruit of the Spirit, spiritual gifts, divine empowerment, and the Spirit-filled life.

Special attention is given to one of the most discussed subjects in Pentecostal theology: the baptism in the Holy Spirit. This book presents a biblical framework for understanding three distinct baptisms-the believer's baptism into Christ and His Body at salvation, water baptism as an act of identification and obedience, and the subsequent baptism in the Holy Spirit as an empowerment for witness and service.

Through careful examination of Luke 24, Acts 1, Acts 2, Acts 8, Acts 10, Acts 19, and 1 Corinthians 12-14, Dr. Smith explores the biblical case for the promise of power from on high and speaking in tongues as the initial outward evidence accompanying the baptism in the Holy Spirit.

But spiritual power must never be separated from spiritual character. The same Holy Spirit who gives gifts also produces fruit. The same Spirit who empowers the believer also calls the believer to holiness, love, discernment, prayer, worship, and faithful service.

This book is written for believers who desire more than information about the Holy Spirit. It is an invitation to know Him, walk with Him, recognize His work, and experience the power Christ promised His Church.

The Church does not need to invent a new power. It needs to receive the power Christ already promised.
