Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Some superpowers are easy to see. Some you only notice when someone is kind enough to show you.It is PJ's first day of kindergarten. Her big brother Emmett and her sister Preslee walk her to school, help her find her hook, and sit her on the sun rug. Then she looks across the kickball field and asks the question a lot of kids ask: "Who are those kids?"Emmett bends down to her height."Those are our super special friends."What looks like a vest, headphones, or a fidget in one child's eyes looks like strength, super hearing, and flying in another. The book never lectures. It just lets kids see both pictures at once: the ordinary playground, and the way friends can look when you decide they belong. At the end of the day PJ feels plain. Emmett has an answer that is small and close and true: everybody has their own specialness. PJ's is how she treats other people. This is a first-day-of-school story for any family. It is for kids starting kindergarten, for siblings who already know the way, and for classrooms where children with different needs share the same yard. You do not need a diagnosis to read it. You only need a child who has ever wondered about somebody across the playground.Read it the night before school.Read it after recess.Read it when a child points and asks who those kids are.The answer can be simple. They are our friends. And so are you.
