Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

On October 30, 1981, 27-year-old Charlotte Elaine Heimann disappeared from Rochester, New York.More than four decades later, her granddaughter, Shyla Jump, is still searching for answers. But Shadows of the Past: Charlotte's Writings is not a book about how Charlotte disappeared. It is a book about who she was before she did.Preserved through the decades are Charlotte's own handwritten poems, essays, stories, school assignments, and personal writings-pages that offer a rare glimpse into the thoughts of a young woman whose life would later become defined by an unsolved disappearance.Within these writings is a Charlotte her granddaughter never had the opportunity to meet: creative and intelligent, sometimes funny, sometimes troubled, deeply observant, and remarkably introspective. She wrote about love, loneliness, anger, family, mental health, addiction, society, relationships, and the world around her. Some pieces are lighthearted. Others are haunting when read through the lens of what would eventually happen to her.Together, they preserve something that no missing-person report ever could: Charlotte's voice.Compiled and preserved by the granddaughter who continues searching for her, Shadows of the Past: Charlotte's Writings allows Charlotte Elaine Heimann to tell part of her own story-in the words she left behind. Before Charlotte became a case number, she was a daughter. She was a sister. She was a mother. She was a student. She was a writer. She was here. She had a voice. And she will not be forgotten.
