Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

September 11, 2001, was supposed to be Natasha M. Iheme's last day at Deloitte & Touche-a day of celebration, goodbyes, and excitement about beginning her dream opportunity with Ernst & Young.Instead, it became a day she would spend the next twenty-five years trying to find the courage to write about.Working in Lower Manhattan, Natasha watched the unimaginable unfold around her. As buildings shook, communication failed, and thousands desperately tried to escape the financial district, one thought remained at the center of her mind: she needed to make it home to her four-year-old son.Wearing heels, she began walking north. What followed was a journey through fear, uncertainty, prayer, friendship, and ultimately, reunion with the father who was desperately trying to find his only daughter. For years, Natasha's beloved Uncle Lennox encouraged her to write about what she experienced that day. After his passing in 2023, his words remained with her. Now, on the 25th anniversary of September 11, she is finally telling the story. The Day I Was Supposed to Leave is a deeply personal reflection on survival, family, faith, and the ordinary decisions that can unexpectedly alter the course of our lives. It is also a tribute-to the people we lost, to the families forever changed, and to those whose memories of that September morning have never faded. Some days become history. Some days change us forever. And some stories take twenty-five years to tell.
