Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

For eleven years I rehearsed a conversation that never happened. We rehearse arguments nobody will hear. We rehearse the future, planning for it so thoroughly we forget to live inside it. We rehearse who we intend to become, indefinitely, as a substitute for becoming it.And all the while the actual life proceeds, unattended, in the background.Stop Rehearsing is a set of thirteen reflections on the ordinary difficulty of being alive - the weight we add to lives already heavy enough, the control we believe we have and don't, the fear that spends our years while wearing the costume of practicality, and the quiet question underneath all of it: what is any of this for?Along the way it asks: - Why do we make simple things so complicated?- What does a flood teach about the limits of planning?- How many more times will you see the people you love?- What are you still carrying that ended a long time ago?- Why does failure feel like a verdict when it's only an event?

This book offers no system and promises no outcome. There are no steps, no framework, no thirty-day plan. What it offers is something plainer: an honest account of what seems true, written from the middle of a life rather than the far side of it.Each chapter ends with a small practice - nothing that takes more than a few minutes, nothing that requires anything you don't already have. You are not finished. Nobody ever has been.
