Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

A Cast Through Time pieces together the remarkable history of the Spey cast and D-loop casting, retracing the people, places and innovations that shaped an enduring part of fly-fishing history.Travelling back more than 170 years, the book explores the origins of these casting methods and follows their evolution from the great salmon rivers of the past to the techniques recognised and practised around the world today.Along the way, it brings together the stories of the anglers, casting instructors, tackle makers and innovators who influenced that development, examining historical techniques and equipment and uncovering how-and why-the cast changed through successive generations.More than simply a history of casting, A Cast Through Time connects the people and places of the past with the modern world of Spey and double-handed casting, helping to clarify a history that has sometimes become blurred with the passing of time. For fly fishers and Spey casters, fishing historians, casting instructors and coaches, museums and educational programmes, as well as collectors and dealers in antique fishing tackle, A Cast Through Time offers both a valuable reference and an engaging journey through more than a century and a half of casting history.
