Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Two men named John stand at the head of the lodge and at the turning points of the year. The Holy Saints John: Names, Sayings, and the Older Rite follows the name John from its Hebrew root through the Forerunner, the Theologian, the saints who carried the name after them, and the feasts that still mark the calendar. It is a contemplative reader for the Craft-and for anyone who keeps a door. The book moves between Scripture, Christian liturgy, the older rite, Masonry, the saints, and the symbolic systems that gathered around the name. It looks at the solstitial feasts, the offering turned toward us, prayer as breath, the two pillars, the point and its lines, water and fire, and the strange material later built around the Johannine tradition.Nothing is flattened into a single answer. Throughout the book, three labels keep the reader's footing: - Documented - what the record carries.- Resonance - what rings together without claiming descent.- Reading - an interpretation belonging to a named person or school.Three plates, contemplations, two vigil orders, and a source appendix make this more than a book to finish. It is a book to work with. The name opens a door. The work begins when you enter.
