Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The cake smells delicious. The pink frosting is ready. But Otis still has to wait.Otis wants to bake a welcome cake for his new neighbor, Bea. There is just one problem: the cake takes time to bake-and even more time to cool. His paws want to get busy right now! When Otis puts a little frosting on the warm cake, it slides down the side. Can he tell his mom what happened? And what can he do while he waits? With gentle support from his mom, Nana, and a new friend beside him, Otis discovers that drawing, silly songs, and watching the clouds can turn a difficult wait into something worth enjoying.Otis and the Not-Yet Cake is a warm, playful picture book about patience, honest mistakes, and making a new friend. Expressive animal characters and cozy watercolor illustrations bring a familiar childhood feeling to life: wanting something to happen right now.Created for children ages 5-8, this story gives families a natural way to explore: - Naming a feeling and asking for help.- Finding something enjoyable to do while waiting.- Telling the truth after a small mistake.- Welcoming a new friend and taking turns.Simple sentences make the story easy to follow, while four wordless pages invite children to notice expressions and tell part of the story themselves. A short reading prompt and three practical suggestions help grown-ups continue the conversation after the last page.Part of Jay Lee's Big Feelings, Little Adventures collection.
