Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The Colonial Ghost TownWhen Mara Bennett takes a lonely country road through the countryside, she discovers something that should not exist-a colonial town frozen in the year 1748.Blackwood appears untouched by time. The courthouse still holds its records. The general store remains stocked. The blacksmith still works his forge. The little white church still rings its bell. But there is one problem.Everyone in the town is dead. For nearly three hundred years, 317 ghosts have been trapped inside Blackwood, unable to leave and unable to move forward. Their fate is tied to an ancient curse created after the townspeople murdered Eleanor Blackwood, a woman accused of being a witch. But Eleanor wasn't the only witch.Four of her sisters survived.Agatha, Beatrice, Clara, and Dorothea have spent centuries searching for Eleanor's spirit. They believe that if they can restore Eleanor's body and reunite their powers, they can become whole again-and gain control over the boundary between the living and the dead. Then Mara arrives. The witches believe Mara is the missing fifth power they need.As Mara uncovers Blackwood's horrifying history, she discovers that escaping the town isn't the only thing at stake. The souls of the 317 ghosts could be dragged back into the witches' control, and the curse could spread to another town.Mara is given a choice. She can walk away and try to reclaim her ordinary life-or sacrifice everything she once knew and become the fifth witch.Mara chooses the dead. She willingly accepts Eleanor's power and becomes a witch, using her new ability-the power of choice-to protect the trapped souls and defeat the four sisters' final spell.Blackwood disappears. The 317 ghosts are finally freed. But Mara's journey doesn't end there. She discovers that the curse was never truly contained within Blackwood. Other places exist where the boundary between the living and the dead is dangerously thin.Mara could have walked away.Instead, she stays. Now the fifth witch travels the countryside, listening for the dead and answering the calls of those who cannot cross over on their own.Because some ghosts need someone to remember them. Some places need someone to protect them. And somewhere in the darkness, another bell is already ringing. The witch who could have left chose to stay.
