Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

It is the second week of December and you have made nothing yet. This book is for exactly that moment. Twenty-five small ornaments and gifts, each one carved with a single knife, each one finished in an evening, and eight of them done in under an hour.Every project opens the same way: the size of blank to buy, an honest time estimate, a short list of what you need, and a safety line. Then the carving is broken into stages, and each stage ends with a check. If the check fails, the fix is described on the spot. Nothing here asks you to carry on past a mistake and hope it works out. What you will carve: Hearts, fir trees, icicles, mittens, baubles, flames, bells and stars for the evenings when time is short. Snowflakes, pine cones, birds, angels, a stag head, a stocking, an acorn, a gingerbread figure and a candy cane when you have a full evening. Then eight pieces that ask for real patience: a standing Santa, an owl, a poinsettia, a nativity sheep, a snowman, a nutcracker, a spread-wing angel and a long spiral icicle. Also covered: which basswood to buy and what it will not do; drilling and cording so the piece hangs straight the first time; oil, wax or bare wood; when paint helps and when it flattens the carving; boxing and giving; and what to do when a piece splits, hangs crooked or loses a point. No power tools. No workshop. One knife, a glove and a thumb guard. This book was created using artificial intelligence tools. Its text, illustrations and cover artwork are AI-generated.
