Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The best lockpick on three roads has come home. Staying may be the one trick he never learned.

At sixty-two, retired rogue Badger Copperplum wants an honest trade, a roof, and enough quiet to think. He returns to Middlemote, the halfling town he left thirty years ago, and buys the shuttered shop at the fork-a landmark sensible merchants avoid.

Fordside has other plans: a cousin running its rowdiest tavern, a goblin boy who finds trouble in empty rooms, an opinionated pack mule claiming the yard, and an old locksmith who knows what Badger's hands once did. Two doors down, a dry-witted apothecary may be watching closer than she admits.

Amid useful little knacks, neighborly favors, stubborn customers, and a traveling season that refuses to stay outside, Badger's quiet retirement fills with people who might notice if he left.

Expect sunlit, low-stakes cozy fantasy, shopkeeping, community mutual aid, dry humor, and the faintest possibility of late-life romance. Kind and closed-door, with no world to save and nothing grim waiting inside.

Author's note: A gentle homecoming with a sixty-two-year-old hero and slowly earned belonging.

For readers of Legends & Lattes, The Teller of Small Fortunes, and Nine Goblins.

Book One in The Retired Rogue of Middlemote series. Badger's new trade, neighbors, and supposedly quiet retirement have only begun. Come to Middlemote and stay awhile.
