The Fire Beside the Lamp: Restoring Deep Bible Teachings in Spirit-Filled ChurchesWhat happens when a church has fire but little light - passion but shallow understanding?Across Pentecostal and charismatic churches worldwide, believers are hungry for the presence of God. They long to pray with faith, worship freely, and encounter the Holy Spirit. But that same hunger often exists alongside a quiet crisis: many sincere Christians can repeat inspiring phrases yet cannot explain the gospel, trace the story of Scripture, or test a teaching against God's Word.Evangelist Emmanuel M. Rogers calls the Church back to a forgotten union - the fire of the Spirit burning beside the lamp of Scripture. Drawing on years of pastoral ministry and evangelistic work, this book confronts a false choice that has weakened congregations: protecting truth while fearing spiritual fire, or celebrating fire while neglecting biblical depth. Neither reflects the New Testament church, where Jesus opened the Scriptures and hearts burned, and the apostles taught faithfully while the Spirit moved in power.Across fourteen chapters, Rogers offers a practical, biblically grounded path for pastors, teachers, and believers who refuse to separate truth from fire, covering: - Why biblical literacy matters - and what happens when it's missing- Becoming a teacher who worships, not just informs- Reading and teaching the whole counsel of God- Building a church culture centered on real discipleship, not just activity- How the Holy Spirit illuminates Scripture rather than replacing it- Moving people from hearing a lesson to living transformation- Teaching children, youth, and every generation faithfully- Guarding the pulpit and training the next generation of teachers- Carrying biblical truth beyond Sunday into homes and daily life- Measuring real spiritual fruit, not just spiritual excitementThe book closes with a 30-Day Bible Teaching Renewal Plan and a Selected Scripture Index, giving pastors, small group leaders, and individual believers practical tools to put these principles into immediate practice.Whether you lead a congregation, teach a Sunday school class, disciple a small group, or simply want to grow deeper in the Word, The Fire Beside the Lamp will challenge you to examine what you believe, how you teach, and whether your spiritual passion is rooted in truth. This is a call to a holy people - congregations where Scripture is read carefully, the Spirit is welcomed reverently, and truth and fire burn together.
