Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Ten children. Ten sports. Not a single medal.Maya falls off the beam eleven times. Theo never gets the ball. Nina comes last in every race. Ada falls so much she wants to give up.None of them wins. All of them get somewhere.FIRST TRY is ten short stories about the hardest part of anything - the first go at it. One child per story, one sport per story, and one small honest victory at the end of each. No trophies. No last-second goals. Just children finding out what they can do.Tell a child it's okay to fall and you have given them a rule. Show them a child who fell eleven times and got back up laughing, and you have given them something else entirely - permission. That is what these stories are for. Nobody in this book is being taught a lesson. They are just having a go, in front of your child, who is watching.Written for reading aloud, ages 4 to 7. Short sentences, sounds to join in with, and one line at the end of each story worth saying twice.Because the first try is never the good one. It's just the one that has to happen first.
