Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

A FILM SET. A MURDERED ACTRESS. A SILVER HEEL THAT WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE A WEAPON.

Greywick is about to become the setting for the biggest production the town has ever seen. But when actress Victoria Harcourt is found dead on the recreated courtroom set, Detective Ruth Calder discovers that the murder is not part of the script.

A silver stiletto has been driven into Victoria's chest.

Then Ruth finds something far more disturbing.

The crime scene has been carefully staged to resemble a real event from the troubled history of the Greywick Trust, an institution once praised for protecting vulnerable children before its records became tangled in missing files, secret payments, property transfers, damaged reputations, and compromised decisions.

Victoria had been investigating that history before she died.

Then another victim is found.

As Ruth digs deeper, she uncovers a missing Register page, a protected child whose identity was erased, a disgraced detective who knows more than he will admit, and a film production where almost everyone has something to hide.

The director is obsessed with authenticity.

The screenwriter has a secret connection to the past.

The producer controls the schedules, the archive research, and the story itself.

And somewhere among them is a killer who is not simply recreating history.

They are rewriting it.

With every clue, Ruth must confront a dangerous question: when the truth has been buried for decades, who gets to decide how it comes back?

The Woman in the Silver Heel is a gripping British murder mystery packed with secrets, hidden identities, historical intrigue, police investigation, psychological tension, and a killer behind the camera.

Perfect for readers who love cozy crime, British detective fiction, small-town mysteries, murder investigations, complicated suspects, and twisty crime thrillers with a strong female detective at the centre.
