Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

A gripping gothic horror novel of family, loneliness, and the price of being heard.Nine-year-old Wren Ashcombe has always loved the goodnight game: whisper into the dark corner of her bedroom, and something whispers back. At Hollow Beck Farm, a crumbling stone farmhouse on the edge of the Yorkshire Moors, the walls are thick, the nights are long, and the echoes, at first, feel like nothing more than a game. But echoes are meant to fade. This one doesn't.As the incidents multiply a jam jar hurled across the pantry, a photograph cracked from the inside, a "friend" waiting by the beck who knows things no stranger should Wren's family begins to understand that something has lived beneath their new home for far longer than any of them imagined. Patient. Lonely. And listening.Only Wren's grandmother believes her from the start. Only Wren can hear exactly what it's asking her for. And only Wren will have to decide, alone in the dark, whether the loneliest thing in the house deserves her pity, her fear, or her final, unbreakable refusal.Rooted in the atmosphere of British gothic horror and the aching tenderness of family drama, Hollow Beck is a slow-burn tale of hauntings, buried secrets, and the courage it takes to say no to something that only wants to be loved. For readers of child-narrator horror in the tradition of The Watcher in the Walls and modern domestic gothic fiction, this is a story about what happens when a house remembers everything, and finally finds someone brave enough to listen back. Some doors should stay shut. Some questions should never be answered. And some families only survive by telling each other the truth.
