Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

A forgotten room. An old family obligation. A death that happened in the wrong place.

When former investigative journalist Marcus Reed inherits Hotel Keahi, an independent retreat on the Hawaiian island of Lānaʻi, he expects deferred maintenance, difficult finances, and sixty-four rooms full of other people's problems.

He doesn't expect one of the rooms to be missing.

The discrepancy leads Marcus and Dr. Evelyn "Evie" Vale-a brilliant forensic investigator whose career ended after one devastating mistake-to a secret Hotel Keahi has kept since 1981. Decades ago, Helen Matsuda quietly used the forgotten room while helping save her family's struggling business. What happened there was hidden for reasons that once seemed honorable.

Now an old promise has become entangled with a high-stakes transaction, a family divided over what it owes the past, and a death whose physical evidence doesn't match the story everyone believes.

Evie can reconstruct what happened.

Marcus can reconstruct why people are lying about it.

Neither can solve the case alone.

Set on Lānaʻi, Hawaiʻi, Hotel Keahi is an atmospheric fair-play mystery built around physical clues, contradictory testimony, family secrets, and two investigators who understand very different kinds of evidence.

At Hotel Keahi, discretion is part of the service. But some contradictions refuse to stay hidden.
