IT SHOULDN'T TAKE THIS MUCH

How to Reduce the Hidden Cost of Everyday Responsibilities

Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The task is rarely the whole cost.

A ninety-minute appointment can consume half a day. A forty-minute report can keep returning to mind all week. The visible task may be small while the responsibility around it keeps charging attention before, during, and after the work itself.

IT SHOULDN'T TAKE THIS MUCH calls the work a responsibility actually requires the task-and the additional cost that gathers around it the tax.

This book will help you see the full life cycle of an ordinary responsibility, reduce repeated remembering, searching, checking, coordinating, and reconstructing, create cleaner return paths when nothing can be done yet, and test whether a fix truly lowers total cost instead of simply moving it somewhere else.

Not every burden can be optimized away. Some overhead protects against failure. Some load is simply load.

The goal is not to turn your life into a perfectly efficient system. It is to stop paying unnecessary costs for responsibilities that still need to remain.
