Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

"El Butre" is a young, freshly minted college graduate of the 2000s, with the soul of a nerd and naive dreams of glory. After months and months of failed job interviews, a tempting internship in China convinces him to pack his bags and fly to Beijing. Waiting for him is Peter, an annoying Chinese driver with shaky English, who soon turns out to be a jack-of-all-trades con man, a terrible human being and a world champion spitter. And so the Butre becomes the star of a tragicomic journey through Beijing, Tianjin and Wuhan, one that will pit him against his driver's scams, have him stumble into an unexpected love and land him in situations at the very limits of human endurance. In his determined quest for revenge on Peter, he will finally discover the bright side of that great mystery called China. "The Tribulations of an Italian in China" is a true autobiographical story, and it marks the beginning of a much bigger adventure, one that led the author to live in the "Celestial Empire" for many years to come.
