SALAMJason Williams never expected the new boy across the street to become one of his closest friends.Isa is a teenage Afghan boy trying to build a new life in America while carrying the memories of the home and family he left behind. At school, he faces bullying and prejudice because of who he is and what he believes. When Jason chooses to stand beside him, an unlikely friendship begins.Through school, basketball, family dinners, faith, and difficult conversations, Jason and Isa discover that friendship can cross the boundaries people use to divide themselves. Their families begin to connect, and even Jake-the boy who once bullied Isa-starts questioning the hatred he has been taught. But not everyone is willing to change. As prejudice grows more dangerous, the friendship between Jason and Isa is tested in ways neither boy could have imagined. Their families are forced to confront grief, faith, responsibility, and the consequences of hatred.SALAM is a story about friendship, family, faith, loss, and the courage to choose peace when hatred would be easier. How much can one friendship change the people around it?And when everything is taken away, what will be left behind?
