A screen can help you pray. It cannot become the altar.Livestreamed Masses have helped Catholics hear Scripture, join in prayer, and remain connected to their parishes when illness, danger, distance, or other serious circumstances make attendance impossible. That spiritual benefit is real. But watching Mass online is not the same as being present at Mass.Online Mass Doesn't Count explains this important distinction clearly and compassionately-without shaming the sick, disabled, homebound, caregivers, or anyone facing a genuine obstacle to attending in person. In this concise Catholic guide, you will discover: - Why the Mass is an action of Christ and the Church-not religious content to be consumed- The difference between spiritual benefit, sacramental presence, and fulfilling the Sunday obligation- Why Christianity's incarnational nature requires bodies, community, and material signs- What truly happens during the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist- Why spiritual Communion is valuable but different from receiving the Eucharist- When Catholics are genuinely excused from attending Mass- How to return to the parish through a practical four-Sunday planOnline Mass can be a window into the Church's worship. It can awaken hunger for Christ, support the homebound, and help someone take the first step back. But the road ultimately leads beyond the screen-to the altar, the gathered Church, and Jesus Christ truly present in the Eucharist.
