Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Mumbai during Ganpati is a city transformed. The roads are crowded, the drums are loud, the sea waits for thousands of idols, and millions of people speak to Bappa as though He were a member of their own family.Bandhu has spent most of his life making sure everyone else reaches where they need to go.For fifteen years, he was the trusted driver of superstar actress Madhusri. When she marries and moves to America, Bandhu's glamorous life quietly disappears. With his savings running low, he buys a second-hand tempo and begins again. Then, on one unforgettable Ganpati night, three people need him at exactly the same time.An old film producer asks him to transport the studio's Ganpati idol to Girgaum Chowpatty for visarjan. His younger brother Vilas is sitting in a police station after a fight and wants Bandhu to rescue him.And Shraddha, the woman Bandhu believes may be the love of his life, is waiting for him at her society's Ganpati immersion.Bandhu promises everyone he will be there. He does not know how he can possibly keep those promises. Then something impossible happens. As Bandhu drives the Ganpati idol through the chaotic streets of Mumbai, Bappa comes alive and begins talking to him. But Bappa does not perform miracles.

Instead, He asks questions. Why does Bandhu confuse being needed with being loved? Why does he keep rescuing people from the consequences of their own choices? Why is he ashamed of driving his own tempo simply because he once drove a superstar? And perhaps the most difficult question of all: Who is Bandhu when nobody needs him? What follows is a funny, emotional, spiritual and deeply human journey through Mumbai on the night of Ganpati Visarjan.Along the way, Bandhu discovers lessons hidden in the stories of Parvati, Shiva and Ganpati, and begins to understand that love does not always mean rescue, dignity does not come from status, and an honest life never needs an apology. As the Arabian Sea waits at Girgaum Chowpatty, Bandhu must finally decide what he is willing to let go of.Because sometimes God does not change your life. Sometimes He simply changes the way you see it.Bandhu Bappacha is a story about faith, family, love, dignity, loneliness and the extraordinary possibility that, on the night you need Bappa most, He may simply sit beside you and listen.
