About the author: Kris Hodkinson began playing baseball at the age of 8, and his playing career spanned through his time in the U.S. Army and ended in college when his rotator cuff was shredded. Several years afterward he began coaching and managing youth baseball teams ranging in age from 9 through 19. From there he attended umpire school and worked as an umpire for many years from softball to little league to travel teams, tournaments and adult leagues.
