Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

What if the lessons that could change a young man's future were learned not only in school, but from family, faith, business, and the streets?Fifteen-year-old Melchizedek "Mel" Bless is growing up in the Bronx under the guidance of two devoted Jamaican parents. His father, Solomon, is a successful real estate broker who teaches him that financial knowledge, ownership, discipline, and faith can open doors that poverty and street life often close. Then everything changes. When Solomon becomes seriously ill, Mel and his mother leave New York for California in search of help. While his father undergoes treatment, Mel enrolls at Crenshaw High School in Los Angeles, where rival gang loyalties divide students and violence is part of everyday life.Instead of choosing a side, Mel remembers what his father taught him.He creates The Invest-Men, a financial literacy club designed to bring rival gang members together around a different kind of power: knowledge, ownership, business, and real estate.Through the club, young people begin learning about: - Financial literacy and money management- Real estate investing and property development- Entrepreneurship and multiple streams of income- Leadership, discipline, and personal responsibility- Faith, family, and positive decision-making- Community ownership and economic opportunityWhat begins as an ambitious school initiative grows into something much larger, bringing Bloods and Crips into the same room and giving them a reason to work toward a common goal. The Invest-Men, God, Gangs & Business is a faith-centered coming-of-age story about fatherhood, financial education, gang violence, entrepreneurship, and the power of positive guidance.Written for young readers, parents, mentors, educators, and community leaders, Omar Reynolds presents a story about what can happen when young people are given knowledge, direction, opportunity, and a reason to believe in a better future.
