Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Adrian Blackwood has spent six years trying to turn grief into science. When his sister Elena disappeared during the mysterious "Great Fasting" in Omen Valley, Adrian refused to accept the villagers' stories of an ancient hunger hidden beneath the mountains. To him, the valley was a geological anomaly, the strange darkness a problem of atmospheric physics, and Elena's disappearance a tragedy waiting for a rational explanation. Now, armed with telescopes, seismic sensors, spectroscopic equipment, and an obsession that borders on self-destruction, Adrian returns to the isolated valley on the eve of another Moonless Night. But the instruments reveal something no scientific theory can explain. The moon does not merely disappear behind clouds. Its light seems to dissolve. The darkness surrounding Omen Valley behaves less like the absence of illumination and more like a living force consuming everything that enters its reach. Beneath the silence, Adrian begins detecting a rhythmic vibration-a pulse resembling the breathing of something impossibly vast. The villagers have always known the truth.Led by the enigmatic Genevieve Storm, they do not fear the darkness. They worship its cycles, preparing themselves for what they call the Great Fasting. Adrian initially believes their rituals are expressions of collective hysteria, but every measurement he makes pushes him closer to a horrifying conclusion: the valley is not simply hiding a phenomenon. Something ancient is using it as a doorway. As Adrian investigates Elena's final records, the boundaries between scientific observation and nightmare begin to collapse. The "sky opening its mouth" that Elena described was not metaphorical. The darkness above Omen Valley is connected to an immense entity known as the Aethel-Maw, a presence whose hunger reaches beyond the valley and whose relationship with the moon and sun is far more terrifying than Adrian could have imagined. His search for an explanation becomes a confrontation with the limits of human knowledge-and with the truth about what happened to his sister. When the final Fasting begins, Adrian discovers that the moon was never the true prize. The creature has been preparing for something far greater: the arrival of dawn itself. As the first light of the sun rises over the mountains, the Aethel-Maw awakens, consuming the light before it can reach the valley. Adrian watches helplessly as the world he trusted is transformed into a cosmic feeding ground. The scientist who came to explain the darkness is forced to witness something much worse: a darkness that was never empty.Something was always there, waiting. And now, it has opened its eyes.
