Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Adrian Vale has spent his career photographing death from a safe distance. He believes that a camera can turn horror into something understandable-a composition, a frame, a moment captured before it disappears. But when he travels to the isolated village of Oakhaven, he discovers a place where death has never truly disappeared.Oakhaven is trapped in an impossible autumn. The corn never stops growing, the harvest never ends, and the villagers seem strangely untouched by time. Beneath the picturesque surface lies a ritual older than the village itself, one sustained by blood, memory, and something ancient buried beneath the soil. The locals speak of the harvest as if it were a sacred necessity, while their smiles and gestures conceal a terrible truth.Adrian soon notices that people are disappearing. His missing colleague, Julian, may have discovered the truth before him, leaving behind photographs that reveal impossible figures moving through the fields. The deeper Adrian investigates, the more the village begins to manipulate what he sees. Scarecrows appear where no one remembers placing them. Familiar faces become distorted. The boundaries between photographs and reality begin to collapse. At the center of Oakhaven stands the enormous Original Seed, a grotesque monument constructed from ancient wood, human bones, and preserved remains. The village's inhabitants are not what they appear to be. They are remnants-preserved shells animated by a consciousness buried beneath the earth. The Reaper, the mysterious guardian of the fields, is not simply hunting Adrian. He is preparing him for the next stage of the harvest.Adrian discovers that his own body has already been contaminated by the village's harvest wine. His skin begins to change. His movements become stiff. His humanity is slowly replaced by something dry, artificial, and terrifying. Even his beloved Leica, once a symbol of his ability to remain an observer, can no longer protect him. When Adrian finally reaches the heart of the North Field, he learns that Oakhaven has been waiting for him. The villagers are dead. The harvest is alive. And he is not the photographer documenting the nightmare-he is the next photograph. In a final confrontation beneath the Blood Moon, Adrian attempts to expose the truth with the only weapon he still possesses: his camera. For one brilliant instant, the flash reveals the horrifying reality behind the village's illusion. But the revelation comes at a terrible price. The final pages transform everything Adrian believed about escape, memory, and reality. What seemed like a journey into a cursed village becomes something far more disturbing: a cycle in which every witness eventually becomes part of the story.
