Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

In the bone-chilled underbelly of Oakhaven, survival is measured by the sulfur on your fingertips. High above the spires, the brass gears of the Clockwork Sun grind through a sky of perpetual winter, casting down a hollow daylight that offers no heat. In the frost-shattered slums below, Linnet hawks black-market tallow matches to freezing wretches desperate for warmth. But these are no ordinary sparks. Linnet's flame burns backward, drinking ambient reality instead of pine. With every strike, the user's past is incinerated: noble crests dissolve into blank silver, carriages vanish, and aristocrats are instantly cast into gutters as forgotten ghosts. Linnet's matches do not merely warm-they obliterate existence. When the city's steam-armored Inquisitors corner her against limestone walls, Linnet is saved by a feral wraith of the alleys: Fen. Mute and battle-hardened, Fen bears a pulsing violet scar across his throat, communicating only through kinetic violence and fierce loyalty. He drags Linnet into the subterranean redoubt of the Unremembered-thousands of outcasts whose histories have been scrubbed clean. There, the velvet-clad Memory-Broker Isaac Mercer proposes an alliance: use Linnet's devastating fire to storm the Spire, extinguish the Celestial Hearth, and free the frozen city.Yet every warmth exacts a sickening toll. As Linnet searches for the truth behind her curse, she discovers Fen is none other than Oakhaven's erased crown prince. Worse still, deep within the city's bone-crypts lie fifty crystal sarcophagi, each cradling a lifeless corpse with Linnet's exact face, ash-blonde hair, and sulfur-amber eyes. She is no human orphan-she is an alchemical homunculus, cloned and harvested across generations to fuel the realm's appetite for oblivion. And the monstrous Sovereign of Winter ruling the Spire's black ice is no god; it is Linnet's own sentient shadow, severed from her heels the day she struck her very first match. When Isaac's insidious ambitions threaten to siphon the city's harvested memories into a mad bid for godhood, Linnet and Fen must fight their way to the clockwork summit. But an external fire can only cast a deeper darkness. To break the eternal winter and restore a stolen world, Linnet must make the ultimate sacrifice and strike the primordial flame sleeping inside her own heart.A harrowing, clockwork-gothic reimagining of Hans Christian Andersen's classic fable, The Matchstick Girl Burned Her Shadow weaves visceral folk horror and ethereal tragedy into an unforgettable tapestry. Perfect for fans of dark fairytales and atmospheric fantasy, it asks a terrifying question: what would you burn to survive the cold?
