At 2:17 a.m., 911 dispatcher Mara Collins answers a call she will never forget.A terrified woman whispers that a man is standing in her bedroom doorway. He isn't walking toward her-yet somehow, every time she looks away, he is closer. Police race to the address. They find the house completely empty. One hour later, the same woman calls again. This time, she dies. The impossible call draws Mara into an investigation with Detective Adrian Vale, and what they uncover is far more terrifying than a single murder. Emergency calls are arriving from places where no one should be. Victims are describing deaths before they happen. Phones ring with voices belonging to people who have been dead for years. And again and again, the calls lead back to the same time:2:17 a.m.For Mara, the mystery soon becomes painfully personal. Eight years earlier, her husband Daniel died under circumstances no one could explain-after making a final 911 call at exactly 2:17. Now his voice is coming through the line again, warning her not to answer what comes next. As the phenomenon spreads beyond Ashford County, the boundary between the living and the dead begins to fracture. Millions hear lost loved ones calling from the other side. Some follow the voices. Some disappear. Others become part of something vast, intelligent, and increasingly desperate to cross over. Mara has spent her career answering cries for help. Now she must decide whether every call deserves an answer.Because something has been listening from the space between one ring and the next. And it has finally learned her name.THE LAST CALL is a dark supernatural horror thriller about grief, impossible choices, the terrifying power of connection, and the voices we would risk everything to hear one more time. Some calls should never be answered.
